Once the largest house in Elizabethan England, then the Palace of King James I and eventual prison of his Son Charles I.

On Sunday 5th May & Bank Holiday Monday, 6^th May there will also be a special exhibition in the house to mark the first year of King Charles III reign. This fascinating display will depict Holdenby’s unique connection to 11 Monarchs from Elizabeth I to Charles III.

You will also be able to walk in the beautiful Gardens where King Charles II walked 375 years ago and visit the Falconry Centre to see the birds of prey that he would have flown.

In the beautiful Stableyard, you will find The Old Stableyard Tearoom serving delicious Homemade Cakes, Fresh Leaf Teas and freshly ground Coffees and the Holdenby Shop offering a stunning range of boutique gifts.

Disabled Guests

We welcome guests with disabilities and work hard to ensure that you can access as much of the site as possible. Disabled parking will be clearly marked, and Blue Badges should be displayed. We hope visitors will understand that the gravelled paths, although not ideal for wheelchairs are part of the character of the house.
